The Singular Santiago: An Ideal “Bleisure” Destination

The Singular Santiago: An Ideal “Bleisure” Destination

After a precipitous, pandemic-driven drop in business travel, 2024 is expected to be the first year that it is truly back. According to the U.S. Travel Association, business travel in 2024 is expected to almost fully match 2019 levels, as its steady climb continues.

In a Global Business Travel Association survey in January, two-thirds of respondents (67%) expect their company’s travel spend to increase in 2024 versus 2023, while only 11% expect their spending will be lower. Event planning experts agree: 80% expect in-person events will continue to grow in 2024.

here’s no question that times have changed, though, and professional jaunts are evolving in response. Now more than ever, people are embracing “bleisure travel,” adding a personal element to work trips. In fact, 60% of business travelers have added vacation days on to business itineraries, with millennials as the biggest drivers of this trend.

Not surprisingly, the business travel ecosystem is shifting to align with this new reality. Major companies like Google, PwC, Microsoft, AirBnB, and SAP have created policies designed to support and even encourage bleisure travel. Hotels are introducing dedicated workspaces, improving wifi access, and generally enhancing their properties to appeal to this burgeoning mindset.

While we built our hotel in Santiago before this trend took off, it may as well have been created specifically for this purpose. Our hotel is an ideal home-base for a blended travel experience, offering a perfect place to work and a luxurious setting from which to experience Chile’s capital.

When it comes to taking care of business, it’s hard to imagine a more ideal hotel in Santiago. First, there is your room—a spacious and luxurious escape (with a large executive desk and superb WiFi) from which to take work calls and meetings in privacy. Looking to have an in-person gathering with clients or colleagues? We’ve got you covered, with a variety of deluxe meeting rooms to suit groups ranging from a few to 40 attendees.

In addition to helping you customize your business program at The Singular (including peerless cuisine and, perhaps, a rooftop cocktail reception), our staff can also assist with planning off-site outings, recreational activities, and insightful tours.

Then, of course, there is the leisure aspect of the trip. Our five-star hotel offers superlative cuisine in stunning settings, and the on-site spa offers respite and rejuvenation after a hectic and productive business trip. Plus, we’re set in the heart of the vibrant Lastarria neighborhood, mere steps from Santiago’s finest art museums—and is a perfect launching point for your discoveries in Chile.

In Lastarria, it simply feels as if you’re connecting with the soul of Santiago. The neighborhood has been a favored haunt of artists, writers, and thinkers, and also is home to great restaurants, shops, history, and an effervescence you won’t find anywhere else in the city. There are so many things to do in Santiago—these seven gems are just the beginning of what awaits you here.
